cappuccino-day

Cappuccino Day is celebrated every year on November 8th and pays tribute to this icon of Italian culture, one of the most beloved hot drinks in Italy and around the world.
The Cappuccino is made from an espresso prepared in a large cup with the addition of a foamy milk cream on the coffee up to the rim of the cup. An icon that has also conquered the rest of the world, it was born in Italy and is closely linked to the culture of espresso coffee. The name comes from the appearance of the drink, which recalls the color of the Capuchin friars' habit: a light brown, similar to the foam of milk mixed with espresso. The quality of the cappuccino is largely based on the balance between coffee and milk, and on the way the milk is frothed. The foam, in fact, must be dense but velvety, able to enhance the taste of the espresso without overpowering it.

Cappuccino in Italy and around the world
In Italy, cappuccino is usually consumed only in the morning, often accompanied by a brioche or a croissant. Italian tradition does not include cappuccino after meals, but it can be enjoyed in the afternoon during the winter as a hot drink.
In the United States, cappuccino tends to be larger than the Italian version and may have less foam. Here it is also common to add flavors, such as vanilla, caramel, or chocolate, to suit the local palate.
In Australia and New Zealand, the flat white is also very popular, similar to cappuccino, but with less foam and creamier milk.
In Europe, cappuccino is often similar to the Italian one, but sometimes it can be served in larger cups and with lighter foam.
In many Asian countries, such as Japan or South Korea, cappuccino has become a symbol of trendiness and modernity, often served in creative ways and with special decorations.

The Cappuccino has managed to conquer the world for its balance between taste and texture and for its ability to adapt to local tastes. The coffee shop culture has helped make it a global icon. However, in every country, cappuccino maintains a strong connection with Italian tradition, and many baristas are still inspired by Italian techniques to prepare it.
