World Pasta Day is celebrated on October 25th, an international day dedicated to pasta, to highlight this food born in Italy and now consumed all over the world. The versatility of pasta makes it perfect for any type of dish, from everyday cooking to special occasions, making it one of the most consumed and loved foods in the world. The Mediterranean diet, of which pasta is a fundamental pillar, is recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity for its health benefits.

Types of Pasta and Recipes
Pasta is made mainly with durum wheat semolina and water, although in some varieties, such as egg pasta, egg is added. There are hundreds of shapes of pasta, each with its own history and function. Some of the most common are: Spaghetti, Penne, Farfalle, Tagliatelle, Fusilli, Ravioli, Tortellini, Lasagne. Each type of pasta has its ideal sauce, and there are Italian recipes famous all over the world such as spaghetti carbonara, spaghetti with tomato sauce, penne all'arrabbiata, tagliatelle with Bolognese ragù, and baked lasagna.

Pasta Culture in Italy
In Italy, pasta is not just a food, but an integral part of daily life, and most Italians eat it almost every day. It is estimated that the average Italian consumes about 23-25 kg of pasta per year.

Production and Export
Italian pasta is renowned worldwide for its quality, tradition, and variety. Italy is also the largest producer and exporter of pasta in the world, with very strict legislation regarding its production, which guarantees the excellence of the product. Italian law imposes very strict standards for pasta production; for example, to be labeled as durum wheat semolina pasta, it must be made exclusively with durum wheat semolina and water. This ensures that the product has a higher quality compared to that made with cheaper or lower quality flours.
Among the best-known Italian pasta producers are: Barilla, Rummo, De Cecco, Divella.

Italian pasta, thanks to its simplicity, versatility, and goodness, has managed to conquer the world while maintaining its identity and cultural roots intact.
